Coronavirus and vaping - is vaping safer than smoking?

So with lockdown and all the additional safety measures imposed for your own health, you’ve been toying with the idea of vaping to quit smoking the traditional nicotine sticks. You’ve been warned by everyone around you of the additional risk posed to you because of your usage of traditional cigarettes; and though you do hear them, you also really enjoy your smoke breaks. Yes, sometimes it is a little uncomfortable when nonsmokers around you splutter their disapproval (the guilt is real), and you are super aware of where you indulge; but what if we told you there was a way to still get all the satisfaction you crave... but in a less obvious and much cleaner way? You are not alone. A high percentage of smokers say they want to quit - and that is probably the best thing you can do for your health - but it is so tough to transition from being a smoker to being a nonsmoker. What if there was a way to ease the transition? Wouldn’t it sound like a dream come true? Well, there is! It’s called vaping, and we are going to tell you all you need to know about it, so that you can decide if it is a good fit for you. We are here to offer you support through the process and we will show you how to quit smoking with vaping

What is vaping

In the most basic terms, vaping is the inhaling of vapor via a device called an e-cigarette. It consists of an atomizer, a battery, and e-liquid cartridge that contains nicotine or nicotine salt, that come in a variety of strengths and flavors. When inhaled the atomizer heats up the liquid and turns it into vapor. This is called vaping.

Cleaner for the environment, cleaner for you!

It lets users get nicotine without all the other carcinogenic contents and carbon monoxide that come from smoking cigarettes.

Vaping is a much cleaner, less harmful way of obtaining the satisfaction that you crave from traditional cigarettes. Instead of the 7000+ nasty chemicals and other carcinogenic contents that traditional cigarettes contain, vaping products contain a lot less. The liquid is made from a base of vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol, combined with nicotine or salt nicotine and flavoring for taste. The wonderful thing about the e-liquids is that the contents of the products are displayed clearly on the label, but even better is the huge variety of exciting flavors that are on offer. You can stick with the more conservative tastes, or you can play with some of the more exotic ones to find the flavor that you love best.

There are no harsh smells, no ash falling, no secondhand smoke, and no butts to dispose of. And if you are looking for ease of use and convenience, there are great disposable vaping options on the market too.

Is vaping a safe way to quit smoking

There are so many options on the market to choose from, and so many stores that spring up overnight, it is easy to become overwhelmed with the choices out there. To make sure that quitting smoking through vaping is beneficial for you, it’s important to make use of a reputable company for your purchases. One that you know you can trust. Before you purchase your products from them, take a look at how transparent they are. Have they been rigorously tested to ensure they reach international safety standards? The benefits of quitting smoking to vaping will be lost if you don’t use the correct and safe products. It is important to note that there are cases where lung injury has occurred. The CDC/FDA has confirmed the lung illnesses were as a result of illicit THC-vape products. To reaffirm, these cases have occurred from the use of tainted contents (black market modified THC e-liquid or a modified device), sometimes together. It’s advised not to make use of informal sources to obtain your device and pods. To ensure that vaping is a safe way to quit smoking, never modify or add substances that are not intended to be added by the manufacturer. Vaping to quit smoking - when is the best time?

Smoking combustible  cigarettes is harmful to your health. You know that. We know that. The best time to quit smoking with vaping is right now. The sooner you quit, the sooner your body has a chance to begin repairing itself.  E-cigarettes are 95% less harmful than traditional cigarettes as shown by a variety of peer-reviewed studies. In layman’s terms, this is because the heating temperature in traditional cigarettes is at the combustion point, whereas with vaporizers, liquids are heated at a significantly lower temperature. Further, vaporizers are composed of carrier liquids, extracted nicotine and flavoring. As such, vaporizers do not have any tobacco leaf, glue, and paper associated with them. These ingredients, when combusted, contribute a significant number of carcinogenic chemicals in traditional cigarettes.

Smoke vs vape: the race to the top

Covid-19 vaping has become an interesting phenomenon, smokers are now becoming more aware of the risks posed by cigarettes and are looking for safer alternatives. Corona virus and vaping has become a hot topic on internet searches, which shows an interesting trend in smokers now becoming aware of what they’re putting into their bodies, and trying to minimise the risk posed to their health. The biggest advantage of using MOODpods products is that all the ingredients are listed openly, and that they comply explicitly to the regulations set out by international regulatory bodies.

What to expect when you quit smoking and start vaping**

There's a lot of hype around what happens when you stop smoking, and we can happily agree that the benefits of vaping can be felt immediately. True story!

The first hours:

Within eight hours, the carbon monoxide that is excessive in your blood stream begins to clear. Even when you’ve taken up vaping within that time frame, your blood oxygen levels begin the return to within a normal range. As we all know, oxygen is the key to life, so with renewed levels you will begin to feel the difference almost immediately as your body detoxes.

A day later:

Twenty four hours later, most of the residual remaining carbon monoxide has cleared. Your lungs will begin their own detox program, removing as best they can the toxic debris that smoking has left them coated in. As vaping does not produce carbon monoxide as a by-product, you won’t be hindered in this process by your vape.

Day two:

You will probably notice at this stage how your taste has improved. It’s likely that you didn’t notice the decrease of your taste and smell senses, but the impact that smoking has had on them will become visible within this period. Smoking damages the delicate receptors, located in your nose and mouth, with all the harsh toxins they contain. Vaping does not contribute to this. The damage begins to heal and you get to reap all the benefits of a renewed sense of smell and taste.

Seventy two hours and counting:

Within three short days, your amazing body is hard at work and you’re definitely feeling all the good changes it’s made. By switching to vaping, you should notice a definite improvement in your breathing pattern. The reason you feel this dramatic change is because vaping does not produce tar, which coats and irritates your bronchial tubes. These tubes will slowly relax and you should notice that as your breathing eases, your energy levels increase.

Three months plus:

As your lung function continues to improve, you will notice that coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath or any other niggling symptoms you were displaying should be clearing. This is because by now your lungs are well on their way to healing, having had time to clear the toxic debris left behind by traditional smoking. As vaping doesn’t produce the same harmful by-products as smoking, your lungs can continue along their healing process without being hindered.

Talking longer term, what’s happened after five years?

If you manage yourself well, and vaping to quit smoking has become a reality for you… five years will seem like a lifetime ago. You will become used to a new normal in terms of your health, and the days of reduced lung capacity and hindered oxygen levels will be a distant memory that seem like they belonged to another person. So five years in, in addition to all the added benefits discussed above, your added risk of a heart attack has halved

Ten years on, surely that’s it?

A decade on from when you chose to quit smoking with vape, and you are still reaping the benefits. By this time, your chance of lung cancer has dramatically and sharply decreased by fifty percent. You are no longer flooding your lungs with the seven thousand plus chemicals contained in normal cigarettes.

Making informed decisions is the key to choice, and you deserve to have only quality products to choose from. Unfortunately this is not always the case, which is why knowing what to look for is so important. It comes ready to use right away - fully charged and filled the moment you take it from the box - eliminating the chance of leaks (Moodpods has advanced anti-leak protection). The disposable vapes are sleek and small, making discretion an attractive part of the package. When you are shopping for disposable vapes, we suggest looking at how many puffs they aim to deliver and check out the customer reviews. They come in different strengths as well as flavors, so you have ample choice for your tastes and personal preference.

Vaping facts

Vape liquid contains far less chemicals than the traditional cigarettes. They contain nicotine, which is helpful when you’re trying to wean yourself off traditional smoking. It is important to bear in mind that though nicotine is addictive, it is not the culprit that causes all the harm to you. Nicotine is pretty harmless as ingredients go.

Typically, the ingredients that the vape liquid is composed of is nicotine, propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine (not vegetable oil) as well as the flavorings. What they don’t contain that traditional cigarettes do is tobacco; nor do they produce the harmful carbon monoxide or tar that you would generally inhale with a combustible cigarette.

Will vaping help me quit smoking?

What you can take from this in conclusion, is that vaping can definitely help you to free yourself from the constraints of smoking. Vaping can help you manage your nicotine dependence, by allowing you to control the amount of nicotine you are taking in which can assist you in the weaning process. Many successful stories have emerged about those that combine vaping with the support of a stop smoking program in the fight to quit. But it’s important to remember that you won’t get the full benefit of vaping to quit smoking unless you stop the use of traditional cigarettes completely. At some point, perhaps you could stop smoking or vaping altogether.

In a nutshell

The longer you steer clear of cigarettes in favor of vaping, the more improvement you will feel in your day to day health. Your overall risk of smoking related diseases will decrease steadily as the time increases, and you will feel better overall. You will also no longer be exposing those around you to harmful chemicals contained in secondhand smoke that is produced with normal cigarettes. Vaping is a worthwhile  alternative to the traditional method of smoking.
